Some people have the wrong notion that workout clothes have to be primarily presentable and attractive instead of being fit. Don’t look at fashion first because the most important for workout clothes is the comfort that it gives you. Your comfort level during workout is greatly dependent on your workout clothes and it will also affect the way you do your workout.
Every type of workout will have appropriate workout apparel for it. The fabric type, the comfort and the fit of the workout clothes are the things you should look for when buying workout clothes for yourself.
Here are some tips in choosing the right workout clothes for your use.
If the fabric provides wicking then this is good for workout. This is a synthetic fiber that wicks away the sweat from your body. You get a light and easy feeling wearing this type of clothing because air just comes through.
Wearing cotton apparel would be good for light workouts if you are the type of person who does not sweat much. Cotton is a soft fabric which you can use if you are doing stretching and walking exercises. This is not ideal for heavy workouts where you sweat profusely since the fabric will get heavy with sweat and it will soon cling to your body. This will be a distraction for workouts.
Clothes should not a hindrance to your workout. If you like to jog, ride a bicycle, run, or other leg exercises, wear shorts of Capri pants that are not loose or baggy.
If you are not doing exercises with rapid movements, then you can use yoga pants that have good elasticity and this is ideal for stretching exercises, yoga, weightlifting, and others.
Sleeveless shirts or t-shirts are ideal tops. A shirt that supports your body and not too loose is ideal. If you don’t want to sweat so much, then wear a sleeveless shirt. A sleeveless top can still be worn during winter since most gyms are centrally heated.
Since the temperature changes from season to season, your workout clothes should also change. Ideal for summer workout wear are sleeveless shirts with shorts or Capri pants and during the winter, you can wear sweatshirts or t-shirts with a jacket over it. You must keep in mind not to wear very warm clothes because your body temperature goes up while exercising.
Working out without the proper shoes is difficult too. If your feet are comfortable, then you can perform a better workout. Choose workout shoes that fit your foot and ankle perfectly but is not too tight. If your shoes has thin soles, you have the ideal shoes since they don’t let the shoe get heavy due to sweat.
